Yesterday’s cryptocurrency price decline was accompanied by the activity of ICO era whales. One of them transferred 25% of its value to the Kraken exchange in a single transaction.
The 2015 ethereal whale transferred 15,000 ETH to Kraken
The unknown whale Ethereum (ETH) which received 67,000 Ether in its initial coin offering (ICO) in 2015 has initiated a monstrous transfer to Kraken, said Chinese crypto journalist Colin Wu.
The transaction was recorded on June 7, 2024. In total, the account transferred the equivalent of approximately $56.1 million to the large centralized exchange.
As of today, the account has $152.3 million worth of Ether (ETH) for sale, according to Public Explorer data. This was only the third transaction from this account since 2022.
In 2020-2021, the account sent centralized exchanges a gargantuan amount of crypto: in six transfers, it moved more than 150,000 Ether, or more than $553 million.
As previously reported by U.Today, the Ethereum Foundation could have launched a 1,000 Ether (ETH) dump a month ago.
$50 million worth of long Ethereum (ETH) liquidated in 24 hours
Much of this dump was immediately exchanged for 4.81 million DAI, averaging $2,725 per ETH.
Yesterday, in the biggest liquidation wave in months, Ethereum (ETH) traders lost over $50 million in short positions and $5 million in long positions, Coinglass data said.
At press time, Ethereum (ETH) is changing hands at $3,694.04, down 2.89% over the past 24 hours.
