The Bitcoin community has been busy speculating on the potential purchase of the largest cryptocurrency by billionaire Michael Dell.
This comes after the founder of one of the biggest tech companies declared on his social media profile that he prefers actions to words.
Danny Scott, CEO and co-founder of British cryptocurrency exchange CoinCorner, recently tweeted that “everything” points to buying Bitcoin.
Dell has been teasing the Bitcoin community with some pretty ambiguous social media posts for quite some time. It all started with a post about scarcity on his social media profile, which seemed to be a rather obvious reference to the largest cryptocurrency that derives its value from its limited supply. He then followed it up by posting an AI-generated image of Cookie Monster, a Muppet from the popular children’s TV show Sesame Street, voraciously devouring Bitcoin.
Dell then released a survey on the “most important thing” and Bitcoin (not surprisingly) managed to win that survey, beating out all other options. The centibillionaire responded to the results of the survey with the meme “Apparently a little boy”.
It’s worth noting that Dell began accepting the cryptocurrency in 2014, when it was relatively unknown. Despite dropping support for Bitcoin in 2017, Dell’s recent posts indicate a renewed interest in the largest cryptocurrency by market cap.
Cryptocurrency analyst Matthew Hyland believes Dell’s latest social media post suggests it may follow MicroStrategy co-founder Michael Saylor’s lead in buying Bitcoin.
