Renowned Bitcoin Gold critic and connoisseur “hater” Peter Schiff addressed an important issue about X, directing his comments directly at Elon Musk, regarding the rapid loss of followers. Some users have suggested that there is a link between Schiff’s hatred of BTC and his account following this trend.
Schiff asked the following question in his post: “I have lost 500-1000 followers every night for the last month or so. This keeps me from having more than 1,014,000 followers total.” He said he gains followers all day, then wakes up in the morning and finds they have disappeared.
Post Some individuals have speculated that Schiff’s repeated negative statements regarding Bitcoin could be the reason for the leak. A funny comment was posted under his post, saying that it’s no surprise that Schiff doesn’t understand Bitcoin. Perhaps people have grown tired of the endless apocalyptic “the end is near” interpretations of Bitcoin.
Schiff implied as much Elon Musk, the leader of X, may have something to do with the loss of Schiff’s followers. However, it is unlikely that Musk is in any way directly interfering with follower counts on certain accounts. Similar to the Bitcoin market criticized by Schiff, social media is unpredictable. However, the most likely reason behind the Schiff problem is robots. X is actively fighting spam accounts and several bot farms, which use mass follow-up tactics.
Schiff’s post reminds us of the complicated dynamics of social media platforms’ algorithms that often confuse people. If you experience a decline in follower numbers, it is not necessarily the result of poor content management but rather an action taken by the platform you are working on.
