Bitcoin maximalist Samson Mowformer CSO of Blocktream and now CEO of Jan3, posted a tweet attacking Ripple after his boss, Brad Garlinghouse, said he believes the SEC is going after Tether now.
Mow cited Tether/Bitfinex CTO Paolo Ardoino’s response to Garlinghouse to criticize Ripple for not only “spreading FUD” on Tether, but also for doing the same to Bitcoin previously.
Tether CTO responds to Brad Garlinghouse’s statement on Tether
During his recent appearance on the “World Class” podcast hosted by Chris Vasquez, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse issued an important warning about the American regulator, the SEC, and the stablecoin industry leader, Tether.
Garlinghouse shared his perspective on their relationship, stating that the US government (and the SEC being its direct representative) is hunting Tether and its popular stablecoin USDT, which runs on multiple blockchains and has several versions supported by different fiat currencies and gold.
The CEO of Ripple also said that he considers this company to be a very important part of the ecosystem.
Paolo Ardoino then responded to this statement from the Ripple boss. Tether’s CTO called him an “uninformed CEO.” Ardoino also highlighted that Ripple recently announced its intention to launch its own stablecoin, thus aiming to compete directly with Tether.
Paolo Ardoino then chose to provide the Crypto developing.”
Garlinghouse responded to this to refute Ardoino’s accusations and they deny attacking the largest stablecoin issuer on the market.
Samson Mow attacks Ripple for spreading FUD
Jan3 boss Samson Mow used his X account to support Ardoino and take a shot at Ripple. He claimed that this San Francisco-based blockchain company is “actively spreading FUD on Tether” to “try to get traction on their stablecoin.”
Mow also reminded the community that in 2022 Ripple (particularly its co-founder Chris Larsen) donated 5 million dollars to Greenpeace to start a campaign against Bitcoin. The goal was to get BTC to move away from the energy-consuming proof-of-work algorithm.
