Ripple donates $100,000 to flood victims in Brazil
In a recent send on its official X handle, Ripple announced it he pledged $100,000 to aid ongoing relief efforts following the catastrophic floods in Brazil. The first XRP token donations were made to fundraisers started by Bitso, a global cryptocurrency exchange founded in Mexico, and fintech platform BRLA. Ripple also added that it will match donations from its employees in a 2:1 ratio. The Rio Grande do Sul floods are considered the worst to hit Brazil in 80 years, leaving hundreds of thousands of people without electricity or clean water. South America’s largest country could take years to recover. This isn’t the first time Ripple has been spotted doing charity work; in 2008, the company partnered with Madonna to help orphans in Malawi. In 2019, Ripple partnered with Tipping Point to provide support to low-income families.
PayPal’s stablecoin launches on Solana
As announced by PayPal Yesterdayits stablecoin, PYUSD, it went live on the Solana blockchain. The announcement of PYUSD availability on Solana comes nine months after the stablecoin’s initial launch.
