EIA Hosts Webinar Today on Energy Use in Bitcoin Mining – Bitcoin Magazine
Earlier this year, the Energy Information Administration attempted to conduct a survey of energy use for Bitcoin mining under emergency authorization statutes, bypassing the traditional process of establishing a survey that required an open comment period from the public and industry participants subject to the survey.
This attempted investigation was conducted under very dubious circumstances and with absolutely no valid justification to justify its emergency nature. Riot platforms and the Texas Blockchain Council sued for an injunction against the Waco, Texas poll.
In the final settlement, EIA voluntarily agreed to end its emergency data collection and destroy all information received until the court ruling.
A a new warning has been issued following the normal procedure of an open comment period.
Today, from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Central Time, EIA will host a webinar to discuss issues related to energy use for Bitcoin mining and information associated with the operations of mining sites in the United States.
